Uzbekistan Visa

Uzbekistan’s Visa Regime

Most visitors to Uzbekistan need a visa.

Citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, and Ukraine do not need visas for visits of up to 60 days. Citizens of Israel, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Tajikistan, and Turkey do not need visas for visits of up to 30 days.

Citizens of 101 countries can transit Uzbekistan for up to 5 days without a visa.

In all other cases, foreign citizens need a visa to visit Uzbekistan. Visas can be obtained through the e-visa portal, through an Uzbekistan embassy or consulate or, in exceptional cases, on arrival at Tashkent International Airport.

Your e-visa should be emailed to you within 3 working days. In the unlikely event that the e-visa is not granted, you will be notified by email. You may wish to try applying for a visa at an embassy or consulate instead.

Please see the e-visa portal for more information.

Visa from an Embassy or Consulate of Uzbekistan

Citizens of 51 countries may apply for a tourist visa directly at an embassy or consulate of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The decision will be made within 2 working days.

Citizens of other countries must first obtain visa support (permission to apply for a visa). Visa support is processed by local travel agencies through Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Ministry will review the application within 7 working days, and send its permission by a telex to the Uzbekistan embassy at which you plan to apply for the visa.

The travel agency will tell you once the Ministry has sent the telex, and give you the telex number to use as a reference when submitting your visa application at the embassy. You will need to fill in an application form, provide your passport and passport-size photographs, and pay a visa fee.

More information on applying for a visa through an embassy or consulate of Uzbekistan is available here.

Visa on Arrival at Tashkent International Airport

You can get a visa on arrival at the airport in Tashkent if:

You are a citizen of a country that does not have an embassy or consulate of the Republic of Uzbekistan and/or

You have insufficient time to get a visa at an embassy or consulate of the Republic of Uzbekistan (if you are travelling to Uzbekistan via a country with an embassy but only spending a short time there, or if you live in a country with an embassy but your visit to Uzbekistan is within the next 2 months).

If you are from a country eligible for an e-visa, we recommend that you apply for an e-visa rather than a visa on arrival.

To obtain a visa on arrival, you must present your passport, return ticket, and visa fee (in cash) at the visa desk in the airport. If you are from a country that is not eligible for the e-visa, you must also present a visa support letter. You must apply for visa support in advance (see process above).

Transit visa for Uzbekistan

Citizens of 101 countries (see the list below) can transit Uzbekistan for up to 5 days without a visa. To be eligible for visa-free transit, you must arrive in and depart from Uzbekistan on Uzbekistan Airways, and present your airline ticket on arrival at the airport.

If you need a transit visa, you must apply in advance via an Uzbekistan embassy or consulate. In addition to the standard documents required for a tourist visa, you must provide an airline or rail ticket that shows your arrival and departure dates.

The processing time for a transit visa is 3 working days.
